Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Load: 1,400-lb Rear Suspension Support

Heavy trailers and bed loads can make the rear sag and throw off steering feel. These SumoSprings helper springs add up to 1,400 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to help keep your ride level and predictable. They back up your factory suspension so you can tow or haul without the rear dropping low or the front lifting high.

Smooth Out Rough Roads: Progressive Load Control Springs

Uneven pavement and bumpy backroads can make a loaded truck bounce around. The progressive design of these springs means they compress gently with lighter loads for a soft ride and firm up automatically as weight increases. That extra resistance keeps your suspension balanced and your drive comfortable whether you’re carrying gear for the weekend or hooking up a small trailer.

Cut Down on Harsh Hits: Microcellular Urethane Cushioning

Every pothole or expansion joint sends a jolt through the frame if the suspension bottoms out. The microcellular urethane in these springs acts like a cushion between the axle and frame, soaking up shocks before you feel them in the cab. The closed-cell material resists road salt, oil, and UV damage so it stays reliable year-round without air lines or fittings to maintain.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

When cargo sits off to one side or crosswinds hit on the highway, body roll can make driving uneasy. Each spring works on its own to balance uneven loads and limit side-to-side sway. You’ll notice steadier cornering, better control, and less rocking when pulling into driveways or turning with weight in the back.

Install It Once and Forget It: Maintenance-Free Design

These helper springs mount to existing attachment points with no drilling required, so getting them on is straightforward. Once installed, there’s no need to monitor air pressure or adjust settings—just dependable support that’s always ready for towing or hauling duty. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

Video Transcript for Review of SuperSprings Intl Vehicle Suspension - SumoSprings Rear Axle Helper Springs - SS88FJ

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at the Sumo Springs Rear Axle Custom Helper Springs. Now this kit has been designed to fit your 2024 and newer Toyota Land Cruiser and Tacomas, and your 2022 and newer Lexus LX600, and your 2023 and newer Toyota Sequoia. On custom fit parts such as this kit, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Simply input the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if these will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. So whether you're hauling weekend gear or towing a small trailer, these springs adapt to that load.

Light cargo is going to compress them slightly for a soft ride, while heavier loads are gonna activate more resistance, keeping your vehicle level and your drive predictable. Now these have a weight capacity of 50% compression of 1400 pounds. But do be aware of the fact that Sumo Springs do not actually increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. But these are designed to handle harsh environments. The closed cell urethane is going to do a great job of resisting salt, oil, and UV damage.

And what's nice about this kit is you don't have to worry about any air lines or fittings. This is basically going to be a set it and forget it solution built for year round reliability. If you hit a pothole or a rough stretch of road, these springs are gonna act like a cushion between your frame and axle, soaking up the impact to reduce jarring and minimizing bounce. So it's gonna be a relatively small upgrade that's gonna make a big difference in comfort. So if you're carrying like a tool chest or cargo that sits off to one side, each spring's gonna work on its own to manage side-to-side movement.

That's gonna help reduce body roll during turns, giving you more control on the road. So this includes everything that you see here. You're gonna get the springs, custom fit brackets, hardware, some lock tie here, and then instructions to guide you through the pretty simple, in my opinion, installation process. If you do pick these up, we would love to hear back from you regarding your experience with getting these installed and using them, so you can share your experience with us by dropping a comment or leaving a review on this product page. And if you happen to have any other additional questions, don't hesitate to reach back out to us.

We wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. Well, that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

2023 Tundra SR5 TRD Sport. Install was pretty easy, do take the tires off, makes it a lot easier. Just note that the bolts towards the back of the truck will need to be put in and started prior to the other 2 bolts due to the spring partially covering the hole. See the pics and you can see this. But I did finally tow my 9k camper with these installed and it took out the sag of the truck and the floating side to side was next to zero. And the stuff inside the camper wasn't tossed around near as much as it was without these springs installed.

I like it needs to be longer

These springs perform as advertised. They were easy to install on my 21 Bronco and I have not been disappointed. I've pulled a trailer from Texas to Utah multiple times with my Bronco and I have not experienced any squatting. I also haven't noticed any decline in comfort of my ride. I highly recommend if your looking for helper springs for trailering.

Instructions were great, I didn't have to remove the rear wheels, I just used some 3" pieces of plywood with floor jack. The factory bolts (12mm) seemed to be better only because they had a washer as these hex socket bolts had a very small seat but I used them anyway. I wasn't sure the torque but tightened them to approximately the same torque as the bolts I removed. What worked for me was removing the lower two bolts, then slowly remove the side bolt and hold the original stops. Installing new one I needed 5mm for cushion, then 6mm for body bolts. There was sufficient locktite for two drops on all 8 bolts (good). I did this after work in the dark with a small flashlight. What worked for me is getting all the bolts into the body then tighten the side bolt almost all the way (so it could go up some more if needed, then tighten the bottom two bolts, then before finally tightening, loosen the side bolt a little (in case it needed to move), then tighten the bottom two bolts, then finally tighten the side bolt. I used what feels like about 30 ft-lbs. but no mention of torque. The instructions also told you which was driver vs passenger side, which is great to know before going under truck.

Best customer service out there. You delivered when no one else could. Thank you!

by:

I should have ordered heavier option all and all well satisfied install was ez and handling improved on my 2025 Tundra

by:

Fast shipping! No issues.

by:

Fixed the sag. No more bottoming out from bumps in the road. Cheaper and less complicated than air. A+ product!

by:

E-Trailer has been phenomenal. Communication, shipping, and price was great. Easy install. Haven’t put a heavy load on them yet, but am sure they will work as advertised. Have not noticed any difference thus far in ride quality in my ‘24 1794 Tundra.

by:

These are fantastic if you tow an RV get them

by:

I just received my sumosprings for my 2025 tundra so I can’t tell how they will perform but I bought them because I have had them on my previous model tundra for about five years and they really make towing my utility trailer much better, I didn’t feel any stiffer ride on an empty truck but when loaded or hooked up to a trailer the sumo springs didn’t allow to squad as much and hard bottoming down just never happened.

by:

I put these on our Bronco Outer Banks to tow our teardrop off road camper. It made a huge difference in the ride and handling. Highly recommended.

by:

Incredibly fast turn around, from order to delivery, super impressed! Overall, a pretty easy install on my 2023 Tundra, even without removing the rear tires. That said, it would have been much easier to access the area to install with the tires off, there’s no doubt about that, but it wasn’t impossible. Jacked up the rear end with a 3ton floor jack (just under 20in of travel on it), set my jack stands, and that gave me plenty of room to work with. A word of advice: MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE BOLT INTO THE SMALLER SIDE OR THE BRACKET MOUNT FIRST. If you save that one for last, the factory bolt and washer will catch on the top lip of the Sumo Spring, and you will not be able to get the angle needed to get the bolt in, resulting in you needing to remove the entire thing to fix your mistake. Ask me how I know this. After the install, I drove around to hit some bumps and dips, see how it felt unloaded, and honestly, I think it rode smoother than with the factory bump stops. Loading up and towing our 26ft bunk house 600mi over the next week, that’ll be the true test. So far so good though!

Good product on my 23 Bronco 2DR would not fit in the orientation suggested with the U bolt closest to the wheel on the divers side although this orientation did work on the passenger side. Would suggest most important thing is to line up with where product is going to hit frame rail. I carry a large dirt bike on a motorcycle tongue rack. With billstiens dialed up two inches (rear) it took the two inch spacer plus one of the 1/2 inch spacers included in the kit. The description should be updated because the kit does include 4-1/2 inch spacers but if you have bigger wheels or have upgraded the stock suspension then you will need to buy the extra spacers which come in 2/4/6 inch versions. The product can be used in two ways. 1) So the read end does not sag from tongue weight. If this is your goal you need the blue part spaced to just barely touch the frame. The other usage is as bump stops which can and you may wish to leave well away from the frame on a 4WD to allow wheel articulation. My goal was to eliminate rear sag when I load the motorcycle on the rack and it achieved that purpose (450 pounds).

by:

Items bolted right up … took maybe 15 minutes to install… will update when I hook up the boat trailer and pull it for a few miles.. from the looks of these they will do the job quite well…

by:

I am only reviewing installation so far, as I haven't put them to the test towing my boat yet. However, what could be a very easy installation...maybe 15-20 mins per side, becomes much more difficult because the bracket does not allow for the use of a ratchet for one of the screws. The bump stop is just wide enough so it blocks the hex head. Only way to handle that one screw is with a traditional or adjustable wrench, and this makes the install much more difficult and time consuming. Just another 1/4 inch adjustment and you could tighten that screw with the ratchet.

by:

The etrailer site helped me dial-in the exact Sumo Springs for our 24 Tundra, and deliver them exactly at the stated day, enabling us to keep our installation appointment with a local mechanic. We’re looking forward to our next trip pulling an Alliance Delta 252 RL. We’ve been using a BluOx load leveling hitch with 1,000 lb bars, that relieve most of the sag already, but looking to be more level with reduced vibration. I’ll update this post after getting some miles in.

Appreciate those videos on the etrailer site - very teachable.

by:

Great product, fast shipping!!!!

by:

Worked as described very happy with the product

by:

Installation and function as advertised.

by:

They really improve the cornering, and trailer sag.
If your at all a DIY person you'll have no problem installing these helper springs.
The only reason I don't give them a five star review is that their just installed andvI want to see how they hold up.

Just added a set of blue sumo springs to my 2024 Toyota Tacoma off-road. Picked up my new r-pod 22 foot travel trailer 3700 pounds yesterday. Headed home with a five hour trip no squat at all with the trailer on the back.
